UIGEA-Like Plans Announced In Brazil

While many countries located all over the world are considering ways that they can open up their doors and economies to the wonders of online casinos, there are a few countries that are actually figuring out ways to ban and bar online casino sites from getting in on the action at all. One of the frontrunners in the movement (besides the United States, but Representative Barney Frank is working very hard so we are trying to keep upbeat about that situation) is now The officials who run thing sin the South American nation are working on plans they have to put the kibosh on online casino gambling in a way that is eerily similar to the main goals of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act that went so horribly wrong in trying to be effective and enforceable in America.

Brazil’s plans to block and/or ban online casinos involves squelching any financial transactions that take place between players and operators. They are even going so far as to have internet service providers shut down the offshore internet casino gambling websites. Now that is just plain cruel! Something quite similar to this effort came about earlier back in 2007 but it was not able to have complete success at being pushed all the way through congress. That one was more geared towards limitations on sportsbetting sites rather than on online casinos in general.

Who knows if this more recent effort will have more ground to stand on or whether it will end up as another washed up and long-forgotten attempt to deny the incredibly economic power and glorious wonder of the internet casino industry. Brazil needs to know that with the global economy in the state that it is in right now, now is definitely not the time to turn one’s back on a potentially very lucrative way to generate a considerable amount of money to stimulate the national economy.
