Texas May Legalize Poker

It seems that despite the rulings that have been handed down by several different judges throughout the United States recently, you can still run the risk of being taken to court if you get caught playing poker for money. A bunch of dudes laughing, snacking and smoking cigars while sitting around a table enmeshed in a game of poker seems like some sort of culturally iconic image in America. How ironic is it then that this is against the law? But there is hope to be found in this situation. More and more people are coming to believe that poker is indeed a game of skill as opposed to a game of luck or chance. This means that in order to succeed at poker, you must employ a deft combination of skill and strategy to get the better of your opponents. Just ask any fan of online casinos and they will tell you that that is the absolute truth.

Right now in Texas it is technically still a legal act to play casino poker with people while betting with money or just playing for the fun of it. However, if the situation develops into one where the house takes a rake or a cut of the money laid down, it turns into an illegal act immediately. But now fans of online casinos and poker rooms can take heart in the fact that there is a new bill that has been proposed that could change all of this.

It would make it so that poker licensed could be granted to decent and worthy establishments even if there is a house involved that will take a cut from all the money that goes through the casino and poker games. The only catch is that the money that the house earns will be taxed. And politicians are very excited about this prospect because taxing this money could potentially generate a great deal of money for the state of Texas.
