Online Casinos Could Bring Big $ To U.S.
As the national economy continues on its downward spiral course, more and more attention is being directed toward the potentially lucrative industry of online casinos. Congressman Barney Frank, a man who has been fighting on behalf of the casino and gambling industry since practically the beginning of time, is eager to point out that the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act is only serving to squelch what could possibly represent a considerable amount of revenue for a struggling country. If online casinos and other gambling activities could be taxed, that could surely change the way many of the opponents of online gambling view this sort of activity.
One recent study indicated that the United States could stand to amass as much as $52 billion in revenue during the course of the next ten years or so if the government makes the move to lift the ban that has been put in place through the enactment of the UIGEA and began to tax those citizens who chose to engage in the activity instead. Doesn’t this sound like the most wonderful solution to a serious and immediate problem?
Currently there is a tremendous call to have the world of online casinos within the United States be properly regulated. This doesn’t have to mean that we cling to strict and unenforceable laws that scare away most of the top casino names in the entire market. Instead, there needs to be a system of checks and balances in place so that the American online casino aficionado can be protected and secure without having to worry that they are going to be breaking any sort of confusing law.
