Hope Remains For U.S. Casino Law
There is at least one person out there in the world who firmly believes that the United States government will be able to move forward in the very near future with legislation that aims to regulate and license online casinos. While other folks are a bit more skeptical since the dates for things just seem to keep being pushed further and further back than the last time, Representative Jason Chaffetz, a Republican from Utah has indicated that he is confident that the government will be able to successfully pass the bill that is supposed to end all of the pain and misery and ineffectiveness of the current laws for online casino gambling such as the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.
Online casinos based within America have been hanging in the balance for quite some time now no matter how hard Representative Barney Frank seems to work. Progress has definitely been made on a number of different levels. Frank has managed to garner some serious support from both sides of the aisle to make this a truly bipartisan effort, but the going is slow and the battle still has a lot of up-hill left to conquer.
With so many other pressing issues right now such as the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the economic recession, energy and health care, it is hard for government officials to make internet casino gambling a priority. But Chaffetz says that the current bill that has been proposed may still be able to advance and be passed through the system of checks and balances quite rapidly. This would be key because if the process is drawn out, that will give the anti-gambling activists time to mobilize some sort of elaborate counterattack.
