Frank Proposes New Anti-UIGEA Bill

The year of 2010 was a very challenging and dramatic one of the future stability of online casinos within the United States. There is been a lot of speculation about what will happen as we move deeper into per into 2011. Last year was a bit of a shame in terms of being able to make substantial and lasting progress for online casino gambling legislation. There were a number of top political officials who are pushing to get certain bills passed that would aim to regulate and license and legalize Internet gambling activities in America. But, the clock ran out and none of the major bills that were proposed to Congress were able to be passed all the way through.

There is good news for the future of online casinos at this point in time in America, however. It seems that Rep. Barney Frank is recently introduced a new anti-UIGEA bill for the 111th Congress. Since the last time a bill of this variety was brought through Congress, and there was no discussion nor a vote on the floor of the house in regard to this bill, it is time for Frank to start his efforts again to see what he is able to accomplish. At that point in time, the bill had been able to collect about 70 different cosponsors from participants on both sides of the aisle.

With a major bipartisan effort, it would seem that there would be a great deal of hope for the bill to make progress and become closer and closer to becoming law. Unfortunately, that did not happen this time around. Hopefully, as we move deeper into this year, we can achieve a greater level of progress that was not able to be reached during 2010. For now, all we can do is speculate and hope against hope that things will work out in our favor.
