Dwan Gets Poker Pros To Accept His $1.5 Million Challengei
What would you do if someone presented you with a $1.5 million heads-up poker challenge? Would you jump at the chance or hem and haw before ultimately turning the challenge down? Well, a rather young professional player named Tom “Durrrr” Dwan called another couple of professional players, Patrik Antonius, David Benvamine and Phil Ivey to a challenge ad they have accepted it.
Dwan made a bold move during a recent interview with a writer for Bluff Magazine when he proposed his big heads-up challenge to the entire world. And then he sat and waited to hear back. It wasn’t too long that he was required to wait. Ivey, 32, who is sponsored by Full Tilt Poker, admitted that he had accepted the challenge in a radio interview with Barry Greenstein on PokerRoad Radio. How could anyone in their right mind refuse a chance to take home a cool $1.5 million?
Dwan made the challenge open to everyone and anyone who was interested and could afford to participate. He proposed a competition with four tables and a minimum of $200/$400. He promised that he would put up $1.5 million to his opponents’ $500,000. After playing a minimum of 50,000 hands, if his opponent finishes with a dollar in their hand after the rake, they will be able to hold on to any side money they accrued. If someone is able to beat him they walk away with his $1.5 million. But if Dwan wins, he takes home his opponents’ $500,000. All you have to do to be eligible to participate is bring the required stake. Many people feel the final outcome will not be too much of a surprise since with the four table structure, Dwan is sure to have an edge over Ivey.
