Casino Bill Congress Date Postponed

Just when you thought that things were really coming together and opening up for the future of online casinos within the United States, the Congressional hearings for Rep. Barney Frank’s bill of once again been postponed. The hearing he for the House financial services committee that was scheduled for Friday, April 16 has been canceled and moved to a time and date yet to be determined.

This comes as a shocking and ridiculously dismal low to all of the online casino operators and players alike within America who have been waiting to have their day to be. Barney Frank’s bill proposes major changes for regulation and taxation and licensing for Internet casinos. This bill, if approved, would magically change the market for Internet gambling within the United States.

It seems that so far, no announcement has been made as to when the hearing will be rescheduled to determine the course for laws governing online casinos in America. The bill aims to install and forcible and effective licensing, taxation and control for Internet casino and poker gambling activities.

It was first introduced by Frank more than a year ago but it is missed several dates to make progress since the Congress has had to focus on other pertinent issues such as financial form to get us out of this seemingly endless economic recession, healthcare, and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The next major deadline is June 1 since that is when the UIGEA is scheduled to be implemented after its implementation had been delayed for six months.
