Big Casino Progress In New Jersey

Although the level of progress for regulation of online casinos across the United States has been relatively slow, on an independent state by state level, progress is definitely being made at a much more rapid and hopeful pace. One of the top contenders in terms of pushing for legalized online casino gambling by the end of 2010 is the state of New Jersey.

The Senate Wagering and Tourism committee of New Jersey recently cleared a bill that would aim to legalize online poker and casino gambling within the state. Apparently, this is the first bill of its kind to be passed by any Senate or House committee. Considering the fact that that is at the state or federal level, that is quite surprising. But, for those who’ve been following the progress for Internet casino legislation in the state of New Jersey, this is does not come as a very major shock at all.

While several other states across the nation have been pushing for legalizing online casinos in one form or another, perhaps no other state has made as much progress as New Jersey. The state is definitely on track now to possibly have Internet gambling activity fully legalized by the time 2011 rolls around.

It will be interesting to see what sort of impact this has on the land based casino industry in the state of New Jersey such as the powerhouse gambling destination Atlantic City. Revenue for Atlantic City casinos has been down for quite some time but hopefully it this new momentum with legalizing Internet gambling will push for some increase in revenue to certain level. Only time will tell.
